My work is from self inflicted torment; a constant battle of ego vs. surrender. It comes from an enviromentally learned perfectionism that at the same time tries to go in the opposite direction. I purposefully try to sit in my angst for the sake of discipline and in a sincere attempt to achieve greatness. This is why I'm here; it is the core of my creativity.
I am largely self taught. Coming from a family of artists, I have found my inspiration in many places. I see my creative life as a sort of "ball" to be filled with impressions, inspirations and ideas. I rely on all my senses to guide me in my work.
I don't restrict myself to any specific arena as far as creativity is concerned. Every aspect of my life is open to examination and creative transformation. At the same time, I fiercely edit this experience, hence the strong contrasts of hard edges and spontaneity in my work.
This series of work I call "Metamorphosis" to suggest change on every possible level. The use of spheres in this body of work represents things that are at once infinite and complete. The landscapes in this series also suggest constant change in both their subject and the materials of which they are made. The materials in these pieces range from "permanent" oil and acrylic to water based inks that will change/ erode over time. This change also manifests itself in an irreverent energy that is constantly fed by my ever changing view of the world I live in.
